OxFEST Annual Conference Poster Competition 2016: abstract submission deadline Sunday 14th February

Applicant requirement: must be a female undergraduate or postgraduate reading any STEM subject

Submission to: please send your abstract of no more than 200 words to oxfestposter@gmail.com

First prize: £150 to be spent on academically-relevant activities
2 runner-up prizes: £75 to be spent on academically-relevant activities

OxFEST’s 5th annual conference is proudly holding a Research Poster Competition for a General Scientific Audience which offers undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to meet, showcase and discuss the innovative research they are undertaking, thereby providing them with an opportunity to network and raise the profile of their research.

Your abstract will be assessed based on the following criteria:

  • Does the abstract explain your research in a clear, concise manner that someone without prior knowledge of the subject can understand?
  • Does the abstract explain why the research is important and relevant?
  • Does the abstract follow a clear and logical layout?
  • Does the abstract use lay terms to explain difficult science?

Successful applicants will be informed by February 21st 2016 to prepare and print their poster. The posters will be displayed and judged during OxFEST’s annual conference on March 5th 2016, where we are expecting 200 people from various areas of STEM research and industry. We believe this will generate interesting discussions among students, academics and industry professionals. We’re looking for great presentation skills in explaining your research to a general scientific audience!
